CNC technology is not limited to milling. With the right cutting tools, your CNC gantry milling machine becomes a universal cutting system — for materials that cannot be milled conventionally.
Ultrasonic Cutting
In ultrasonic cutting, a blade vibrates at high frequency (typically 20,000–40,000 Hz). This enormously reduces cutting resistance and enables clean cuts through:
- Composites: Carbon fiber (CFRP), glass fiber (GFRP)
- Foams: PU foam, PE foam, packaging materials
- Textiles: Technical fabrics, filter materials, insulation mats
- Food: Frozen products, baked goods, confectionery
Advantages of Ultrasonic Cutting
- Clean, fray-free edges on textiles
- No delamination on composites
- Minimal cutting force — no clamping pressure needed
- No thermal damage to the material
Tangential Cutting
In tangential cutting, a blade aligns tangentially to the cutting direction — similar to a plotter knife, but CNC-controlled and with significantly more force.
Typical Applications
- Leather: Bags, shoes, upholstery, automotive interiors
- Gaskets: Rubber, cork, paper gaskets
- Packaging: Corrugated cardboard, carton, foam inserts
- Textiles: Upholstery fabrics, awning materials, sailcloth
CNC as a Universal Platform
The great advantage of BZT CNC gantry milling machines: They can be equipped with different tools. Today milling, tomorrow cutting — with automatic tool change if desired. This makes your CNC milling machine investment even more versatile.
