CNC Spindles and Milling Spindles
HF spindles from 0.55 to 10 kW, router motors from AMB, Mafell and Suhner, frequency inverters, sets and spindle mounts.
CNC spindles and milling spindles for gantry routers
Here you will find the spindles and router motors from our range, plus frequency inverters, sets and spindle mounts. Which spindle fits depends on the material, the power you need and the mount on your machine. Use the filters to narrow down by power, speed and collet size.
HF spindles
Our HF spindles from BZT, Elte, Hiteco, Isel and Spinogy range from 0.55 to 10 kW and up to 50,000 rpm. Depending on the model, the tool is clamped with ER collets (ER16, ER20, ER25, ER32) or with a tool holder such as SK20, SK30 or HSK. Every HF spindle needs a frequency inverter. The BZT spindles with 0.55, 1.1 and 2.2 kW are also available as a set with inverter. All models: HF spindles.
Router motors from AMB, Mafell and Suhner
Router motors run directly on 230 V and do not need a frequency inverter. We carry models from AMB (formerly Kress) with 530 to 1400 W, from Mafell with 800 and 1000 W and from Suhner with 1050 and 1530 W, some of them with an ER16 or ER20 holder. Overview: router motors.
Milling spindles with tool changer
Spindles with automatic tool change, such as the BZT HF tool change spindles with 3.5 and 7.0 kW (SK30), are listed together with tool magazines and length sensors under tool changers.
Frequency inverters, mounts and collets
Frequency inverters from Delta are available from 1.5 to 22 kW, for 230 V single-phase and 400 V three-phase. With a BZT CNC control, the speed can be set in the G-code program. For installation there are spindle mounts with 43 mm (Euro neck), 65 mm and 80 mm. Matching collets are available from ER16 to ER40.
Frequently Asked Questions about HF Spindles & Milling Motors
All you need to know about spindles and drives for your CNC router
What is the difference between an HF spindle and a milling motor?
A router motor (e.g. AMB/Kress, Mafell, Suhner) runs directly on 230 V and, depending on the model, reaches up to about 30,000 rpm. A high-frequency spindle needs a frequency inverter, reaches up to 50,000 rpm depending on the model, runs more quietly and is designed for continuous operation. For continuous commercial use we generally recommend an HF spindle.
Which spindle fits my BZT CNC router?
That depends on the material and on the spindle mount of your machine. For wood and plastic, a 1.1 kW spindle is usually enough (e.g. BZT HF spindle with ER20). For aluminium, we recommend at least 2.2 kW. Steel can only be machined with a suitable machine, to a limited extent with the PFH and PFX series. We carry spindle mounts with 43 mm (Euro neck), 65 mm and 80 mm. Tell us your machine and material and we will suggest a suitable spindle.
Do I need a frequency converter?
Yes, every HF spindle needs a suitable frequency inverter for speed control. We carry Delta inverters from 1.5 to 22 kW for 230 V and 400 V, as well as sets of BZT HF spindle and inverter. In combination with a BZT CNC control unit, you can control the spindle speed directly via G-code. Router motors from AMB, Mafell or Suhner do not need a frequency inverter.
What does air-cooled vs. water-cooled mean?
Air-cooled spindles are low-maintenance and ready for immediate use — they are sufficient for most applications. Water-cooled spindles (e.g. Spinogy X22) run significantly quieter and cooler, which offers advantages during long machining times and under high load. However, they require a separate cooling system with a pump and cooling tank. For continuous operation in series production, we recommend water-cooled models.
