The spindle is the heart of every CNC portal milling machine. BZT carries a broad range of HF spindles, milling motors and frequency inverters — from the compact 800-watt unit to the powerful 3.7-kW industrial spindle.
BZT HF Spindles
Our own BZT HF spindles are specifically designed for continuous operation in portal milling machines. The 1.1-kW variant with 18,000 rpm and ER20 collet chuck is ideal for wood, plastic and aluminium. For higher demands, we offer the 2.2-kW complete set with a matching Delta frequency inverter — ready for immediate installation.
Branded Milling Motors
Alongside our HF spindles, we stock proven milling motors from AMB (Kress), Mafell, Suhner and Elte. The Mafell FM1000 with 1,000 watts and ER16 collet chuck is a classic in the hobby and semi-professional sector. For the highest precision, we recommend the water-cooled Spinogy X22 with ER25 collet chuck. The Elte spindles with automatic tool changer are suitable for series production.
Frequency Inverters and Control
Every HF spindle requires a suitable frequency inverter for speed control. We stock Delta VFD-E and LC inverters from 0.75 kW to 3.7 kW in 230-V and 400-V versions. In combination with a BZT CNC control, you can control the spindle speed directly via the G-code program.
Spindle Mounts and Accessories
In the CNC accessories section you will find matching spindle mounts (43 mm, 65 mm, 80 mm), collet chuck sets for ER16 and ER20, as well as collet nuts and collet wrenches. All mounts are precision-turned and guarantee reliable concentricity.

What is the difference between an HF spindle and a milling motor?
A router motor (e.g. AMB/Kress, Mafell) is operated directly at 230 V and offers speeds of up to approx. 25,000 rpm — ideal for getting started. A high-frequency spindle requires a frequency converter, but achieves higher speeds (up to 50,000 rpm), runs more quietly, with less vibration, and is designed for continuous operation. For professional applications, we generally recommend a high-frequency spindle.
Which spindle fits my BZT CNC router?
That depends on your intended use: For wood and plastic, a 1.1 kW spindle is sufficient (e.g. BZT HF spindle with ER20). For aluminium, we recommend at least 2.2 kW. For steel, you should opt for a spindle from 3.5 kW with an SK30 holder (e.g. Elte or Hiteco). All BZT machines feature a 43 mm Euro-neck mount, onto which any spindle from our range can be fitted.
Do I need a frequency converter?
Yes, every HF spindle requires a suitable frequency inverter for speed control. We stock Delta VFD inverters from 0.75 to 3.7 kW in 230 V and 400 V versions. In combination with a BZT CNC control unit, you can control the spindle speed directly via G-code. Milling motors from AMB, Mafell or Suhner, on the other hand, do not require a frequency inverter.
What does air-cooled vs. water-cooled mean?
Air-cooled spindles are low-maintenance and ready for immediate use — they are sufficient for most applications. Water-cooled spindles (e.g. Spinogy X22) run significantly quieter and cooler, which offers advantages during long machining times and under high load. However, they require a separate cooling system with a pump and cooling tank. For continuous operation in series production, we recommend water-cooled models.
