BZT Maschinenbau offers 15 CNC portal milling machine series with over 120 configuration variants. This comparison helps you identify the ideal series for your application, materials, and workspace. Every machine is manufactured in Germany and individually configurable.
Series Overview
Entry-Level & Hobby Series
Our entry-level machines deliver genuine BZT quality in compact formats, perfect for makers, model builders, educational institutions, and small workshops taking their first steps into CNC machining. Built with the same premium components as our larger machines, they offer an unbeatable foundation for learning and light production.
Mid-Range & Semi-Professional Series
These versatile all-rounders bridge the gap between hobby and industrial use. With larger travel distances, more powerful spindle options, and enhanced rigidity, they handle aluminium, composites, and small batch production with ease. Ideal for prototyping shops, sign makers, and growing businesses.
Professional & Large-Format Series
Designed for professional workshops and production environments, these machines offer generous travel distances and the rigidity needed for demanding materials. Equipped with industrial-grade linear guides and ball screws, they maintain precision across large workpieces and extended production runs.
Industrial & Heavy-Duty Series
Our flagship industrial machines are engineered for continuous production in demanding manufacturing environments. Maximum rigidity, the highest spindle power options, and advanced automation features make them the choice for serious metalworking, aerospace prototyping, and high-volume manufacturing.

How to Choose Your Series
Selecting the right series depends on three main factors:
- Workpiece size: Your maximum workpiece dimensions determine the minimum travel distances you need. Always add 10–20% margin for clamping and tool clearance.
- Material hardness: Soft materials (wood, foam, plastics) can be processed on any series. Aluminium and brass require mid-range or higher. Steel and hard materials require industrial series.
- Production volume: Occasional use and prototyping are well-served by entry and mid-range series. Regular production and batch manufacturing benefit from the enhanced rigidity and automation options of professional and industrial series.
